May 26 – 30 Steelhead and King Salmon

May 31, 2013

Hello from Southeast Alaska,

Back in Sitka and the outside coast of Baranof Island! We have to thank Jeff Woodward for the weather this week! Apparently Jeff has a remarkable ability to bring good weather where ever he goes and this week was no exception!  Ron Ellisor, John Fuller, Jim Redmond and Gary Mausner have joined the Adventurous before. This year we were lucky to also have along Gary’s brother – bottom fishing master Terry Mausner.

The best of both Worlds! When Ron put this trip together his hopes were to fish both Steelhead in the streams and Kings and Halibut offshore. Outstanding weather and sea conditions allowed us to do some great King and Halibut fishing! The King fishing seemed a bit spotty, but we did luck into some great bites! The Halibut bite was on!! The guys released 4 – 100 pound class fish and kept a hand full of nice keeper size fish!

Upstream – In my book any day on the stream is a good day, but every now and then the stars align, the water is right and the fish are on! This was one of those days!! We found the stream in perfect condition. It was an unseasonable 65 plus degrees, not a cloud in the sky and a stream full of Steelhead! Its hard to describe those days!

Thank you Ron and the wonderful crew of anglers that joined us this week for and incredible week on the water!!

From the Wheelhouse,

Captain Travis Peterson
