May 13-16, 2013 Confluence Film and Yellow Dog Fly fishing

May 17, 2013

Hello from Southeast Alaska,

Over the past several years Jim Klug and Chris Patterson of Confluence film have scoured the planet fishing and filming some of the most out of the way and interesting spots on earth. They have produced 3 films all of which include several destinations ranging from India to Maine and everywhere in-between. If you are a fly fisherman and have seen the films, Drift, Rise and Connect you would remember them. They are set up in a way that captures the DNA of fly fishing. The videography and story line are capturing and exciting and take you to the far off fly fishing destinations.

We welcomed the Confluence crew to the Adventurous this week. With hopes of capturing a glimpse of the wild and untouched steelhead fishing opportunities in Southeast Alaska we set sail from Petersburg. The week turned into something of a magic moment when I had the opportunity to actually fish with my great friend Dan “Rooster” Leavens.  We found streams with high water and plenty fish willing to bite a fly! Utilizing both swing and nyphing techniques we managed to have the time of our lives landing and releasing numerous Steelhead!

We were also joined by our good friend Ian Davis and Tom Melvin of Yellow dog Fishing. Ian and Tom spent the week prospecting, exploring and fishing. The two managed to land numerous wild Steelhead!

Take the time and Mark your calendars for November 8th for the newest, wildest, most aggressively filmed fly fishing videos ever made, Waypoints.

Thank you to Jim Klug, Chris Patterson and the Yellowdog crew for making this one of the most exciting weeks in years!

We managed to find a few nice crab this week!

Every now and then you get lucky. This is the largest Steelhead of my life. We estimated him at 18 pounds.
