Fishing Report for 7/9/2006 - King Salmon and Alaska Brown Bears

I am beginning to start to sound like a broken record - King Salmon, King Salmon - although the Cohos have not yet showed up in great numbers the Kings are holding strong here on the outside coast of Baranof Island. We just finished our 10th trip in a row with limits of Kings Salmon.

Returning guest Norm Osborn was joined by his son Brian, and his good friends Roy Nierman, Brian Rosen and young Chuck Demirjyn.    Variety is the name of the game aboard the Adventurous, and this week was not different.  Not to mention the great fishing this week Chuck and I had the chance to have an up close and personal look at an Alaskan Brown Bear....

"I have seen bears before" replied Chuck as we departed in the skiff..."not like this" was his quiet response as we sat still just yards from the feeding Bear. 

An hour after our visit the rest of the group had the chance to visit the Brownie and everyone went away happy with out of site photos! King fishing was just one of the highlights of the week!  Flat seas allowed us two sensational days offshore fishing for Halibut and the guys managed to land over 30 fish between 15 and 85 pounds! Brian Osborn also went home with a super Halibut story after landing the weeks biggest fish an, 85 pound Halibut on 20 pound test. Brian hooked the big butt trolling for Salmon and after a 15 minute battle he had the fish in the boat! Congrats Brian!   

The Coho are beginning to show and this crew managed to land over a dozen during the week!   Great fishing and super company, Thanks to everyone for another successful week aboard the Adventurous. We look forward to seeing you all again!
