Fishing Report for 6/25/2006 - Beginners Luck

We left Sitka on June 25th. We all hear about beginners luck, especially when fishing is involved, and this week aboard the Adventurous Phil Carter set the curve on beginners luck! After fishing several spots for just one King on the first day we made the decision to try one more spot before anchoring for the night. Before we had all of the lines in - BANG!! We had our second fish of the day and after a short fight a 38 pound King was in the boat.

See these pictures and all the other trip photos online with MSN!

Trolling less than 10 minutes produced an even bigger fish weighing in at 41 pounds!  First time King Salmon fisherman Phil was up next and it didn't take long before we had a strike! 30 minutes and a spectacular fight later Phil had subdued the monster King and the 54 pound monster hit the deck!!! Wow! What a fish!

The Adventurous was "back home" in Whale Bay this week for a father and son trip that will not soon be forgotten. Phil Carter was joined by his son Chad, Bill Harrington was joined by Tobin and Chuck was joined by his son Michael. The trip started with a bang and continued to be nothing short of spectacular! We found Whale bay loaded with ravenous Kings that gave us hours of world class fishing in mirror flat water. On the third day Chuck, Tobin and Michael took an afternoon hike up a stream and were elated to land two late season Steelhead!! As if the stream fishing for Steelhead was not enough the guys also found good Coho fishing in the streams! Chad was named the Halibut King this week landing two Halibut weighting 120lb and 130lb.

Close encounters with Brown Bears, great shrimp fishing - once again the long days almost seemed to short to take advantage of all of the opportunities here in Southeast Alaska!

Thanks for another great trip and we look forward to seeing you all again,

Keep Casting,

Travis, Jenn and The Moose
