Report for 5/14/2006 thru 5/18/2006 - The Chicago Boys

The “Chicago boys” were in Sitka this week! Southeast Alaska first timers Tony Arens, Alex Degutis, David McCoy, Don Vansenus, Brian Essary, and Nathan Karras joined the Adventurous and her crew to explore and fish the waters around Sitka.

With a wide range of weather from calm and clear to cool and windy we had the opportunity to fish for King Salmon and even land a few small halibut! With the King bite hot and cold the guys trolled, mooched, and jigged for 20 keeper Kings! Master moocher Nathan had great luck with this technique landing several Kings, Halibut, and a myriad of rock fish.

With the offshore weather turning rough in the middle of the week the crew opted to explore the Inside Passage and try their luck with the Crab, shrimp and stream fish. Although the stream fishing was slow the crabbing and shrimping were “off the chart”!!

This group of Chicago anglers also had the chance to experience the diversity of Southeast Alaska seeing Orca, and Humpback Whales, Otter, Brown Bear, and Sea Lion.

We also had a monumental experience on-board this week with Tony tuning the big 50…….what a great party….congratulations Tony!!!

What a great week guys….we are looking forward to seeing you all in north country again!!
