Fishing Report for 4/30/2006 and 5/7/2006 -
Alaska Steelhead and Salmon

Over the past two weeks The Adventurous crew and our guests have found ourselves exploring streams fishing for King Salmon and enjoying Southeast Alaska “Adventurous style”! Last week found us departing Petersburg with experienced Steelhead fisherman Lloyd Dolby, Rod Johnson, Bill Burleigh, and Morgan.

See the slideshow online with MSN.

The guys started off with good fishing hooking multiple Steelhead and landing four on the first day! Bill had a unbelievable week landing fish at every river system we fished! Jerry also had great luck landing fish at every stream system he fished! Loyd had an amazing fight with a scrapper of a Steelhead finally landing the 13 pound hen 100 yards downstream from where he hooked her!

Fishing four different stream systems, shrimping, crabbing and covering 180 miles of Alaska’s Inside Passage, this group of avid fly fisherman had a great opportunity to experience Southeast Alaska in the prime of Steelhead season!

This week we welcomed back Dan Majors and his father in law James Gross and Daniel Anderson. The guys were joined by Adventurous first timers Bill Eggleston, Tom Alexander, and Peter Eckhardt. This group came to Alaska in pursuit of King Salmon and a taste of stream fishing. We found the Kings biting just north of Sitka and landed 4 fish before anchoring for a spectacular Salmon dinner! With a large low pressure system producing heavy weather on the outside waters we spent most of the week in the protection of the many “barrier” islands. Landing 16 King Salmon between 18 and 35 pounds the group also had the opportunity to spend a day stream fishing! Finding the streams in perfect condition, we had numerous rainbow trout, Dolly Vardan and, Cutthrout trout. Dan Majors managed to land one medium size Steelhead and Dan Anderson was “drug” down stream by a super feisty Steelhead that finally found refuge in a log jam.

Shrimp and crab fishing has remained off the chart with outstanding sets in the new “secret spot”!!
